Hi everybody,
Had to pop on here to share this incredible single-origin new harvest straight from Nicaragua. Subscribers may remember this coffee—and the story of Eleane Mierisch—from years past. She's the coffee producer responsible for this incredible farm, and we’re lucky enough to have a direct trade relationship with the Mierisch family, meaning we import the beans directly from Nicaragua.

Eleane comes from generations of coffee farmers, and her meticulous methods for processing coffee have won rave reviews throughout the coffee world, including a coveted Cup of Excellence (think Michelin star but for coffee).

This Los Placeres lot is a crowd-pleaser. The flavor in this cup lives in the sweet world of dark chocolate with touches of Rainier cherry. The mouthfeel is round and velvety, remaining in the cocoa world with traction and fullness.

When the newest harvest arrived, I couldn’t wait to roast it and share this lot on its own. It's a fantastic pour over, brewed coffee, or single-origin espresso. It's versatile, sweet, and—dare I say—a bit bold. I roasted it medium, and after first crack, during development, lowered the heat and let time work its magic, honing this coffee to a sweet homecoming.
